the Hills are alive : 40 years now

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

Any time tell me to sing
I will sing with my flat tuneless voice

I remember each and every word
40 years !
Still remember standing in the queue early in the morning with my friends for the first show at 3 'o'clock on the first day of its release
I thought I'd be the first there, found a big crowd standing in the queue already, I was not the only passionate chap in chennai.

  1. Its scary when the mind starts wondering back to those good old days. At 45 its happening to me too. When I look at my four grandsons I remember how old I am....Hence I don't look at them too much (hahaha)
Luckily I come from a family of females who stay at 29.

  3. Two winters ago, my sister dressed up like a nun and dressed her then 6 year old son in lederhosen, and little hat with a feather perched on top, quite jaunty, and took him to a sing-along screening of Sound of Music. The whole audience sings along (obviously)but the fun and joy comes in dressing up as the characters in the movie. There are prizes for best costume, and prizes for those who know the answers to obscure film trivia.
My sister was only a few years old when the film came out and it has remained a top favourite of hers all that time. Funny thing is, she is the manager for several death metal bands in our part of the world. A far cry from Sound of Music! My nephew, whom I adore, had a blast although he was not sure about all those grownups acting so silly.
