I have uploaded THEYYAM pictures in Blunt knife, too many pictures, the atmosphere was such that I couldn't resist, had to split them in to different posts. I have posted only the morning pictures. I'll post THEYYAM night pictures tomorrow. I don't have any details on THEYYAM festival, please contribute if you have any. I have deleted many posts and pictures, and I have uploaded them in photobucket. Blunt Knife
Yes Laila it was an amazing festival, these are only pictures, being there was a unique experience with drums beats in absolute frenzy, Short nadasvaram ( like a clarinet ) very low light of naivilakku (Oil Lamps) these pictures were taken next day morning, it goes on and on.
Suresh please ask if any one got any details abt THEYYAM. I missed quite a lot actually, Night pictures are in blunt knife, there is lot of fire play and there used to be animal sacrifice too which has long been abandoned. Some families around Malabar area conduct these Theyyams.
The colours keep changing Patty, its a non stop festival for 3 days. Surrounding place serves as a fair with merry go rounds giant wheel different games, lots of things happen simultaneously. Felt sorry for being tired and couldn't be at different place at thesame time. Perhaps one day I'll take you there Patty. very colourful it is.
Fell in love with the diya..Never knew such shapes did exist..Boys look is soo innocent as if he is very much in the thick of festivsl without having any clue of why he is there..I like the pics psoted here more than the other blog of urs..Or is it the paly of my eyes :-)
The boy plays Sita's child Sangita, luv or kush, two of them are in other blog I think or in photobucket album.
took a picture of the diya because I loved it too. The same Theyyam is not performed else where Sangita, each one is different. Not always religious, sometimes they play social themes as well.

The boy surely looks out of sync with his persona.

The red and redder on the other face is ready ever.
