Please meet Stone Plougher, tough looking chapee ! Also known as Rock plougher. Information is different in different places, called stone plover, rock plover. Don't know which is right.
Simply merges with the rock, bigger birds like eagles falcons, raptors, can't loate it from a distance.
Asked the forest officer, He said Rockerfeller

Going away to Kerala for 6 days for ONAM festivities, I'll be back on 12th, I'll respond to all the comments and mails once I come back. Had problems with the computer for 2 days, couldn't visit my favourite blogs, Sorry. Got the system back in action just a few hours back

ReplyDeleteLovely bird! I remember seeing one such bird when I was a little boy. It was a rare bird so everyone of us tried to catch it as soon as we saw it. We finally caught it. But it refused to eat. So after a few days, it died. It was sad that not one of us thought of releasing it.

Thanks Ruth, I really don't know how they evolve with special adaptation, like little cormorants have large claws for their size. Forgot to post those pictures, many lying in cold storage. I am seeking help as I don't identify many of them.
ReplyDeleteToo many things happening in Kerala, Found lots of yellow flags everywhere reperesenting some cult,
every time I find something new. Perhaps this is an old one but I am never surprised to find new cults swamis gurus emerging. The yellow guru is dead for sure. Very close to where I live in chennai there is a red shirt cult, I find them very scary, I get away as fast as I can. The red shirt guru is still alive and he has his temples all around south India. India is a religious mess Ruth.

ReplyDeleteParrots seem to be comfortable in a cage Imemine. If you let them free they come back. But I too don't like to see birds in a cage. Birds who have lived free since they are born don't accept life in a cage.

the first word that came to my mind when i saw the pics of the bird was "simple" - i don't know why, but i thought the bird looked so simple, without a complex network of colours. A li'l dazed too, but adorable. Love the close-up shots, Poms. Fantastic pics again *hugs*

Chubbannax sweetie, I wrote this post first as Rock flower, thats what the forest officer told me. Had to delete it, searched on the net and found that it is rock plover, perhaps this is what the forest officer told me, you know me the deaf man heard it as rock flaawar. hehehe
