THE GREEN MUSIC
Please click to view full screen.
I used to carry music with me, on my treks, stupid idea. Now I don't carry any more. There is enough music in the air, its a state of mind, you accept sounds of nature as music. The surround sound is sheer ecstasy. The birds the elephants or the monkeys may dislike Mozart or Sibelius. or they may like Stravinsky and Sigur Ros, you never know. Perhaps they enjoy each other's sounds. I have seen monkeys sitting very still in a state of absolute concentration. Some times all you hear is the whispering sounds of leaves and none other. No activity whatsoever. They all decide to sit and listen. All of them.

Mudassar, The best forest is any forest which is untouched by man.
Sit on a rock Lorrain and you hear the ocean roar. ( it comes in 'dangling conversation' simon and garfenkel.
I tilt more towards Stravinsky. I have a couple of harpsichord albums of Bach.
i lov eht sounds of nature, and wow what an amzing picture! i love forests how i wish i could trek them too. maybe one day i will.
Thanks for the visit Leila, People wish for something which is beyond their reach. You just wake up in the morning and decide to go to a forest. Its as easy as that. Please take a local guide with you. Treking in unknown teritory with a few friends without a guide can get you in trouble. There are a certain rules to follow which the guide will tell you. When you come back you'd be a different person Leila. Hope you have this experience soon.
neat post rauf, how easy it is to forget ... yesterday evening at home there was a big dinner, lot of relos, the dinner was served by 5pm !!! i was the the last to eat ... at 6pm. every one was so concerned and asking me why am eating dinner so late ? ... how easy it is to forget ... in this jungle of relativity ...
"The best forest is any forest which is untouched by man."
thats the best definition that i have heard so far rauf .... clap clap ... clap ...
Yeah the natural sounds are soo soothing..Ruskin Bond once said 'U need to have your own small corner where u should sit and connect to nature'..For me that is my balcony always chirping with birds..and now doves have given some eggs near my bedroom balcony... yipee
Lorraine, actually I am making fasle accusation. Man is responsible for some damage, but most of the damage comes from animals themselves, hurricanes tornados, or forest fires. elephants cause considerable damage. Millions of years ago (65)
dinosaurs trinos wrecked the vegetaion completely, that is one big reason for their extiction.
Sangita, I have never been to Kaziranga, hope to go there some time in near future. Some times the sound of our footsetps are so disturbing there when it gets very quiet. I stop and listen.
The doves laid their eggs there because they trust you sangita. You seem to be a good host.
Suresh What was the party about ? Did the 'party' come to see you ?
Feel miserable for having missed it.
Slept the whole day Suresh. Pulicat was a wash out, it seems very few birds come there, have to check again with the wild life dept. here.
Mudassar, Is that a horror movie ?
rauf, dont bother, this was hardly a party, many big party's on the way, will you keep you posted for some fun !!!
you should check with the chennai/madras birds, birding enthusiasts club. chk this website also www.blackbuck.org

Hey I like both yr blogs. :)
the pic of the forest is awesome!!..or should I say kickass!...naah..jus joking. Its super!Liked what u said about the best forest...and the sounds and the music and.... everything else.lol
I love the sound of peaceful steady pouring rain. And the sound of silence as well.
Will email you back soon, just been slightly busy lately. But, don't worry I got your email. :)
Oh, and nice stories about you, Suresh & your other friend and the cell phone/theatre/biking incident. You have great stories & I like hearing them.
rauf- i wish it was as easy as that
i have visited forests in the UK and Iran and I love them. But I have obligations now- university, family, and I can't just up and go without permission, money, a guide, plans. maybe when im a bit older it will be simpler, or maybe i'm making it complicated for myself, i dunno but there you go.
mudassar- hey there aren't any forests in SA that i know of!
I am never without a book or music e2d. though I have stopped carrying music but I carry a couple of books, good to read in the forest if you find a safe place to sit. Any rock by a stream. Nights are really fascinating, more noises, more music.
Patty I don't protect myself, i don't even protect the camera in the rain, never carry a rain coat, don't have one actually. I love walking in the rain. i never get sick, though i get sick walking in the rain in my city Chennai where things get pretty messy. I love the smell of rain. I try to be in some forest when the first rain of the season falls.
but the sound of silence is very deafening Patty, its really scary, made me mad in silent valley, i'll write about it some time. there are some goofy stories of my younger days in my old blogs Patty, many more to come.
Take your time Leila, you have time on your side. I have seen the country side of Iran in films, the most recent being ' baran' Beautiful they are and very very cold. i think in Urdu and write in English Leila.
Love your photos!!
Thank you so much sweet Ladies, Going wild in our language of forest is peace and harmony, When you accept that you have gone wild means you have understood life. Pardon my english Ladies, enjoy your lives. go wilder.
young Storks are able to call loudly, but by the time they are 18 months old they are practically voiceless.
Owee thats why I did not hear any sounds just the clap clap of their beaks.
Never heard of it Mudassar. Hope you are having a wonderful time there.
rauf, i have commented some info on your previous post 'the design' on storks and babies.

Oh man, I love that top pic.
Stick to IE Suresh, or Neo planet absolutely no hassles there. This firefox pretty fancy drinks some memory too.
had a tiring day, sitting completely exhausted, it was a 5 hour session.
Thank you djohns Welcome to India, I'll try to post some street life too in future. Taking pictures of people is my main interest.
Mudassar the forest is a main source of oxygen, its for every living organism's survival and not for humans alone. We humans been pretty reckless with our resources.
so far fire fox has been impresing me, will push it a bit further, its some new version. will keep you posted.
5 hr session shoot is quiet a bit ... amazing. i can never do what you are doing.
Actually I enjoyed it Suresh, I took lot od action shots of them playing the violin, pretty fast they are. Now I am tired and exhausted.. have to give the pictures before I leave.
Beautiful shots !
Mistical green... beautiful!
Thank you crescendo
Green and blue are the only colours you see from the space.
Thank you Helen.
I think I am wrong here Helen, Green is the colour, blue is just the reflection of the sky as water is colourless.
Dark is not a colour Mudassar, and darkness is not energy, Light is energy, absence of light is darkness.
Blue is the reflection. Water is colourless.
The colors of nature are beautiful. There is nothing like it.
