LOK SABHA

Lok Sabha is the lower house of Indian Parliament. This is how our Lok Sabha looks on a non chaotic session. Some member speaks and no one listens, not even the guy sitting next to the speaker, each one doing his own thing. Lady members bring the home work of their children, and some members come to Lok Sabha for a peaceful sleep. Things improved for a while when Lok Sabha went live for TV audience, when members attended the session after a visit to the local beauty parlours, yes yes yes I am talking about the male members. We do have chaotic and very violent sessions, after all this is India. Thank goodness the country runs by itself. Please click on the picture for a full screen view and have fun. I'll never get tired of painted storks, such entertaining birds they are.

It looks like the stork population in India is nowhere near extinct. :)

I have never seen a stork up close. Well, not any wild animal.

This is something I want to do one day.

:D I'm assuming you're making a contrast between the painted storks in this picture & members of Parliament? :D

Wonderful photo. Love the reflections.

Cari, What I saw in two places was quite encouraging, but statistics show that the number is reducing year by year. There are many painted stork close ups in Blunt knife blog. Please check. I'll mail you some for Tyler.

Yes Patty this is how our parliament functions, no one really pays attention, except for some controversial issues, when the house turns pretty chaotic and things start flying in all directions.
India is an amazing country, it runs by itself.

One of the best bird pics..I love that rocky setting and so many of them together and of course the reflection

These are not even one tenth of them Sangita, there are many in the trees nesting, They would've all gone by now. It was already getting too hot, every year temprature is rising, and they don't have enough time to wait till their chicks learn to fly.

laissez faire - let the people decide. i've got an economics test this evening, and what you said about india running itself makes sense :)

Yes The country runs by itself Laila, but the society sick and getting sicker. You had a history of apartheid (please read Laila's current blog) A slave lived with hopes of freedom, but in India a person is born untouchable and dies untouchable, he has no hopes. You find the worst kind of racism in India. It will take hundreds of years for things to change.
Some of my own friends don't like my friendship with them.

Ur so kind Rauf.

Thank You.

Nice panoramic shot, Rauf!

Sometimes I wish things would go crazy here. It gets boring listening to George Bush.

Imemine, I don't understand your comment, I don't know what gives you the idea of my popularity, I am a frog in the well actully.

We have a very good and learned President, and the Prime minister.
and a decent Finance minister who has a Havard Law degree. That is all Imemine, rest of the politicians and ministers are bleeding the country white. All India needd is ten honest politicians which we never had.

The Land of Enlightment and Nirvana, India is the worst racist country in the world.

Hi Sweet Stacey, You have the remote in your hand just change the channel. you don't have to watch him or listen to him.

American democracy is the biggest eye wash in the world. Yet they stuff their brand of democracy down the throats of others. Your vote did not make him the president Stacey, Its money and the five or six big time defence contractors made him the president.
He is just their puppet, he is not even fit to be a high school janitor. Dealings in wall street don't build the country's economy, Its the war, and the weapons which keeps the economy thriving. Do they want to end terrorism ? No . They want to keep it going.
They need an enemy, if they don't have an enemy they have to manufacture one, They have a factory manufacturing dictators, Saddam and Osama were manufactured by them. America needs an enemy at any given point of time. Nobody wants to know why and how terrorism started. Nobody wants to go to the roots. They are the biggest terrorists in human history Stacey. They have left a dreadful impact in vietnam. why Viet Nam ? does any one ask ? The reasons given for butchering innocent civilians were very filmsy. Now they are doing things to incite more terrorism. Its the same Vietnam shame being repeated in Iraq. How they couldn't find WMD in Iraq ? They gave WMD to Saddam to be used against Iran. What a joke Stacey. Bush is just a joker a clown a puppet. There are people behind him, very powerful, kind of people who killed President Kennedy. If Bush decides to turn in to Gandhi He will be shot too.

One bomb destroys so much of plant animal and human life. One boimb destroys thousands of years of history buried there. They don't care about history or saving the planet. All they need is money.
Fighting terrorism is just an excuse to make more money.

Poms, loved your response to Stacey. so true, makes even more sense now. and talking of our Parliamentarians appearing LIVE on TV, trust me, it really doesn't affect 'em. i was watching a session on SUN news, and one guy was beating up the other with the wooden chair that he was sitting on, and then, a few minutes later, his "pals" joined him in beating the others up with more chairs. and all this was LIVE on TV. they really don't care.

Hiyee Lordee Booey !! wattoos ?
Yupsee We Indians don't have to pay for entertainment, its free.
We have our politicians, Bhagwaans Swamis Gurus, We are exporting these clowns. Our actors really have some tough competetion. No wonder people don't go to the circus and movie theatres any more, These clowns are every where and its free !!

Say Hi to Her Majesty Boo !

wonderful pic, rauf. love that sexy little pink ruffle they have, LOL!

I am never sure if we are better off when the politicians are ignoring their business or paying attention. Either way it threatens us all. Nothing more frightening that when they flock together and go on 'crusade' about something - you can be sure that their brains will fly away before they act.

Nice comnparison Rauf..although the
folks in the lok sabha dont look half as pretty (painted or not)as these painted storkes.Dont u agree?:)
Too much craziness and hopelessness everywhere Rauf.Wish I had a magic wand or something.

rauf said...

Yes Hayden, Things would be a lot better if politicians pay some attention. Most of them, in India or in the US serve the interests of big business houses who helped them to get elected. Most of the 5 year term is spent on 'self interest' rather than the Nation's interest. Yes brains work only towards self interest. It is a popular belief that if a person has no brain he becomes a politician. Internally US has less problems, in India, we have communal politics which really damages the country. Every body claims to do something about racism and the upliftment of the lowest cast untouchables. but their condition has hardly improved since India gained independence in 1947. NGOs are working hard towards it, but they too come under attack instigated by the politicians. Villages get burnt with people. In a country with a surplus of food grains, there are deaths due to starvation, mal nutrition,
people in the state of Orissa eat grass to keep themselves alive.

Hayden, there are lots of pictures of painted storks in my previous posts in Blunt knife, the pink really looks like brush strokes of an artist.

e2dees, you said it right, now I am really afraid of getting sued by the painted stork association for insulting them. I apologise, This really is an insult to compare them to oue politicians, i never thought about this. Thanks e2dees.

Yes the situation is really getting hopeless, you see the extremes in poverty and wealth.
Science & technology and ignorance.
Very powerful will to survive is pushing the country forward.

Actually I have heard about the racism in India from a few people. That is awful, and nothing is done about it?
