Colours

This is a cattle eggret I was told, but this one looks different, there are many types of eggrets.

I was clicking these pictures in a state of shock when I saw the colours on his beak. Please click on the pictures for a full screen view. All pictures are full screen size. Begins with a purple patch around the eye fades into red and red fades to orange. Wow !!
Multi coloured beak ?

For a second I forgot to click, I just stood there like a dummy. Sometimes nature's splendour hits you on the head like a hammer. DHOINK !! I forgot about the war , Human folly, damage to the planet, humans facing extinction.
No, things are still alright, still not too late
These birds are the most delicate creatures on earth. If they are fine, we humans should be fine.

All my pride gets shattered. I keep begging, pleeeeeese pleeeeese stay there for a minute, pleeeeese don't fly away pleeeese, this time i was loud, i was actually begging loud. Very strange, he flapped its wings and was about to take off, I wanted a few more shots, I was almost in tears, ah ! ah1 pleeeeese, and the bird settled down, decided not to fly. I said thank you sweetie.

Pretty angry he looks, perhaps doesn't like the idea of getting photographed. focus no focus, I was madly clicking, then he turned toward me like he was saying THATS EEENUFF !! and took off. Perhaps thinking, these are the humans who are ruining our lives.

I took these pictures in March, the day was cloudy but too hot, too hot for the month of March.
Nesting and hatching gets disturbed by the climate change.

Time to wake up.

Animals have boundries and so do we Lorraine, I envy the birds, they know what freedom is.

incredible bird, rauf, incredible photos. thank you for this gift! I was so startled by the first shot - so clearly an egret body, but the beak much shorter than I am accustomed to. but then, we don't have many varieties of egrets.

rauf said...

There are similar egrets Hayden almost same colour but the beak is plain orange and longer as you have pointed out. I have their pictures too. They live in groups. this one was a loner.

I've never seen a more stunningly beautiful creature. And what amazing photos you got. Very cool that he settled back down after preparing to fly away, and you captured that in those photos near the end. Funny how we attribute human characteristics to these guys, eh?

Got used to talking to my cat Ruth, I tell him my problems, my ideas, sits right next to my keyboard, tries to catch my fingers. So i engage myself in imaginary dialogue with birds too,
mostly about passport and visas. I ask them do you have a visa ? I envy their freedom Ruth. We have divided ourselves, on a single tree you'll see different species of birds nesting and hatching. We have drawn boundries limiting our own freedom.

Ruth said...

I agree with you, actually. Too many boundaries, that don't really exist. What is phenomenal is when the dialogue turns into the kind of exchange you had with mr. egret. What a joy.

Life is a struggle for every one Ruth, even for the birds, food, survival, protection of the young ones and now the abrupt climate changes for which humans are responsible. Our hand has fingers of different sizes, Each finger alone is weak but together they are strong. such should be unity in diversity. but its a dream.

Wonderful! His feathers look like fur. Youa re so lucky to get such a view.

Candy, luck is not on my side most of the time. I have more junk by the end of the day than good pictures. Sometimes I get lucky. I love walking in the wilderness, photography is secondary, just love being there. I can hear the birds but don't see them, I get very rare oppertunities, but I miss most of them.

Good that you put the walking and observing first, then the pictures. It's so easy to snap away and lose the true moment.

Lovely Rauf.

I am sure the bird did not feel endangered or else it would of flew away.

I think animals can sense danger.

As much as they can sense a person who respects them.

Love ur pics.

Ruth, ejnoying the atmosphere is always my first preference. Now I have stopped carrying music with me. I carry a couple of books though and ofcourse me camera. Taking pictures is not the first thing on my mind.

rauf said...

Thanks Cari, yes animals birds do sense danger. Humans too had the ability to sense danger but we have lost it over the years. I can be sure about cats dogs and horses. they understand love and recognise their human friends, not sure about the others.

So beautiful and sad at the same time.

And it's not like we don't know what we're doing to the planet at this point. But we keep on. With the misguided leadership of my own nation presently leading the way...

rauf said...

Darius, I always repeat in my various blogs that the planet has the capacity to heal itself. The awarness of global warming and abrupt climate changes is a step forward.

That is the hole in democracy I keep talking about. When the administration goes against the will of the people. War, weapons of mass destruction or damage to the environment. Your fellow citizens are against it but the leadership which people have elected goes ahead with it.
Democracy becomes a joke, when the will of the people is not respected.

:D Rauf, you make me laugh. :D

I have begged before("please, please...") for an animal or something to stay in place or exactly how I want to photograph it. Doesn't always work. :)

rauf said...

yes it doesn't work with me too Patty. Luck is usually not on my side most of the time.
