Ah I love these pictures.. they show so much faith! I dont believe in god as such but I do believe in faith

And its their faith that answers their prayers!

Have fun in Kerala!!

Wish I could go to Asokan's exhibit. From the brochure I am intrigued.

"The eye of the camera is an unparalleled eye. It sees with a focused and unpremeditated clarity. The eye behind the camera, therefore, is a knowing eye of exceptional power. It is almost a third eye."

Zacharia's words are true of your photographs too, rauf. I think you see into the human soul and reveal it to us.

How have you been Rauf uncle? Long time!

Alicia M B Ballard StudioGaleria said...

Very strong, expressive pics, reckless Rauf
Can can indeed tell a story with each one of them

As beautiful as they are, they saddened me, as they painfully reflect our conditioning to feel helpless, and dependent on that which is intangible, invisible... on what is always out of reach.
Something, somebody else...

Would love to enjoy Asokan's Exhibit - all my best (I can feel it)

Take good care
Lots of love and hugs

I like to come and travel in your blog, very nice pictures again !

POOHEEDEE SWEET, yes we all fill it up with something. Tangible or intangible, we need some comfort. there are many ways, faith is one, makes us rich, boosts the energy, level of performance. Michel Angelo is a good example. Good and positive.

i am sorry i took time to respond, have to come up with a new post, too many things to do and too many people counting on me including my family. i think i am disappointing every one. hope you are doing fine Pooheeda

rauf said...

Hi VISHESH, sorry my priorities are going upside down.

yes mylapore it is. Had friends near chitrakulam, now moved far. It used to be the happening place every day, now reduced to few days in a year. T Nagar shopping has taken the crowd away.

rauf said...

oh RUTH, Asokan's exhibition went off well, couldn't stay with him for long, can't afford big cities.

i observe people and come up with theories. Greed rules most of the time, then comes security. i make attempts to capture their thoughts in the camera, i fail most of the time Ruth. You can see pure and undivided devotion on the face of the lady in the 5th picture and i wonder what is going on in her mind.

i have removed one picture which i posted twice in a hurry and replaced it with another one.

rauf said...

Thank you SONIA, i had a good trip, came back a few days ago and been running around since, and couldn't attend to my blog. hope you are doing fine Sonia

Thank you PETER, sorry for the delay in response, i was caught up in various activities

What do you ask God Ammoo ? PhD ?

oh i met a bunch of NE folk artists SAGORIKA, from Assam Meghalaya and Nagaland. i don't know where to post them, i'll try to stuff dem in my next post. met a lot of friends but not many pictures, very interesting train Journey, unreserved. just bought the ticket and hopped in. You can be miserable or you can have fun, depends on the attitude Sagorika, since i am a sadak chaap i am pretty comfortable in most uncomfortable situations. So the artists and their amazing work has inspired me to visit NE again.

rauf said...

Hi NATTU NAUTANKI, if it really works i'll be the first to join them with a list of things i want from god. i have no money to pay, if had money i won't be asking god in the first place.

rauf said...

Hi PRETTY PRETTY, colours are all over India, more saturated colours in Rajasthan. But i have always missed Holi. Perhaps next year i'll go somewhere north to get Holi pictures.

Feelings yes, hoping wishing, greed, wanting more and more and perhaps thanking god. 'what ever' includes evil like some one praying for her mother in law to die or some disaster for the neighbour. If all the prayers are answered, the world would burn in ten days. One praying for constant sunshine the other praying for rain, god would be confused.

rauf said...

i am ok SINDHU BITIYA, just dragging my life along, doing my best to avoid getting hurt. not much happening nor i am trying to make things happen. Now finding ways to beat the heat without running away. Hope you are doing fine bitiya.

Dearest ALICIA, The final brochure print was only 90% of what i expected. i couldn't find right font for 'light' so i wrote it myself. The exhibition went off well, i couldn't stay there long as i was carrying very little money and staying in Ernakulam is beyond my pocket(with holes in it) and i have never been careful with money Alicia.

Had to go to other places and meet friends. Made some friends in the train. and they located me on the face book.

Expectations from God always end in disappointments. But people never give up. Very high expectations result in depression and impact of grief hits many folds. some thank god for what they have and pray to keep it that way. There is no escape, bad days hit everybody. its all a matter of luck Alicia, they all want a little bit of luck, perhaps that's what they are asking for. What they are seeking in these pictures is called 'Prasadam' what is offered to god, holy ash, and 'kunkumam' the red coloured powder. It may work wonders as hman mind plays lots of tricks. It may boost the person's confidence and he may work harder and the results may be quite rewarding. finally it all comes down to money.
God give me more money.
its never enough.
hope you are enjoying the summer Alicia
lots of love
(Hugs)

i am just sitting here doing nothing, i have no problems with the heat, good breeze blowing across the room, rest of the family can't live without AC.
Arshia is in town on a short visit
Thought of takin her to Ko, she's got a cannon 450D with two lenses, aching to take pictures. Silly thing has dyed her hair red. i was furious.
please give my love to Malini and Sarah. hope things are fine Suresh.

No two orchids are alike, you will never find an identical orchid
Hi PINKY, i welcome you here at Daylight again, but its not a pleasant place to visit. you'll regret blogrolling me.

You have such a sweet blog Pinky, very pleasant and very feminine and delicate, lots of tings there, i don't remember how i landed up at your place, felt like staying there for some time, Next time i'll ask for some coffee.

Normally i am afraid of commenting on blogs i stumble upon Pinky, when they resikropate, they find my blog very rude arrogant and depressing, i am afraid of hurting and disappointing visitors. My old friends know me very well and they don't expect any joy out of my blog like i found in yours.
Thank you Pinky.

oh Kannur ! Are you in Kannur now SHRAVAN ?
I go there quite often For Theyyams or on my way to Manandavady. there are two Theyyam posts, if i remember correctly, i don't know where they are, perhaps two years ago, in Daylight Again, one in Taliserry and the other in Kudali on Kannur-virajpet road, my friend Sindu's family conducts it, Tharavad house ??
Most of the time i go to Coorg, my place and Kutta Nagarhole' forest and take a bus to Manandavady. i spend a lot of time in the forests.
Tolpetty is due, haven't been to that part of the forest> Have you been to Tirnelli Temple Shravan ?
It will take a lifetime to explore Wynad area alone. please click on 'my favourite post' on the links, its about Meenmutty, Wynad. Very long post you may not find it interesting.

i panic when i see a new visitor Shravan. This blog is not a pleasant place. Any way, welcome to Daylight Again.

Shravan RN said...

@ rauf
yes sir ! at kannur, actually a 5 kms away frm town, just a matter of 15 mins drive :)pretty much of knowledge in malayalam:) tharavaad house, its the custom here :) my moms tharavaad also has the custom of organizing theyyam yearly.. not the grant one as other places.. but am glad to say that the theyyam season at kannur ends after the theyyam at "kalari vaatukkal devi temple" which is at 10 mins distance away from my home. and another feature is that the theyyam at this temple has the tallest thing ever to be used in any theyyams.. :)

i have been to tirnelli/thirunelli temple years before following my gran pa's death and the offerings there. i agree, wynad is a beautiful place, i love the climate over then, and the only thing i fear is the leeches :D they are ruthless :)

i will read the favourite post once am back to blogger after my exams (after may 15th)

and i love this layout and the photos you click:)

bye for now :)

They just want hope and faith... sometimes hope is the hardest thing to come by.

Remember the story Pandora's Box? Hope was the last misery. Whoever wrote that hope is the last misery was a total lunatic. Without hope none of us would be alive.

SHRAVAN Hi, Its really good to know about your family's Theyyam.
i'll write to you, please tell me the dates when it is performed.

Last week went to Alleppy, Chembakulam boat race. Hope you are doing fine Sharaven. sorry for my late response. This delay is unpardonable.

rauf said...

Thank you NAMAKI

rauf said...

MYSTIC ROSE, hope and faith are connected to many things like an iPOD, Ferrari, Porche, Camera. list is endless.
Things don't end with wishing well for ourselves and others if you are saint. Unfortunately we are humans, so we wish something bad for people we don't like, like a daughter in law or a mother in law.

i go to sleep hoping that i would wake up in the morning. Animals don't entertain such hopes, they survive for the day.

rauf said...

SAGORIKA, i was in a do nothing mode, i am still in a do nothing mode. But i have to do something to survive. You are young Sagorika, you'll understand when you get old.

Thought i could vanish for a while SONIA, sometimes computers start biting you. So i stayed away. Hope you are doing fine Sonia.

rauf said...

Yes obscure reasons PREACHER, They believe, What is the harm in sending in an application, a requisition, lets throw in. i haven't seen it working Preacher. if it works i don't mind burning my hand a bit for a Ferrari which i can't drive on Indian roads. Let the Ferrari come, i'll apply for the driver's liscence and then i'll burn my hands further praying for better roads to drive my Ferrari.

Hope you Caz and Jax are enjoying the English summer

rauf said...

Nice to see you NATHALI. i am wondering how i vanished for many of my friends by just staying away from the computer. i'll write about it.

Yes its sad Nathalie. There are good and bad side of faith. More bad than good.

Hope you are doing fine and i could see from your posts that you are enjoying the summer. Lots of love from India Nathalie.
