Love killed him

What do you think of a country which enforces draconian laws ?
First thing that would come to your mind is run away, never go anywhere near that country.
You are a law abiding citizen, such laws should not affect you as you have no intentions of breaking them, but still you would like to keep away from a country which enforces such laws.
You may have money a good job a good house and you are a God fearing person minding your own business, what worries would you have ?
No you are not afraid of any punishment, but the atmosphere of such laws would suffocate you.
Who is this guy Draco ?
A picture of some monster comes to mind.
Actually he was a very sweet guy.

7th Century BC Athens was chaotic. (I am writing based on my memory, please check and correct me.) utter lawlessness prevailed. People were not safe even in their houses. Terrified people hid their women folks in the basements. It was not safe to walk outside even in broad daylight. Chopped heads, blood every where. Then came this guy Draco, elected as a governor(please correct me) raised an army in a very short period and enforced very stringent laws, death for simplest of crimes. Things were back to normal almost immediately. It was a relief for the Athenians.
Draco became a hero

One day he appeared on stage like Michel Jackson. A huge crowd had gatherd to have a glimpse of him. Electric atmosphere like a rock show. Tadaam thdoom Drums beating in frenzy and pippreee pippee bugles blaring, Flowers showering on him from all directions.
Like we see in a rock show, one chap took off his robe and flung at him, the rest followed. Poor chap came under a rain of robes falling from everywhere, couldn't find his way out, Oweee where did he go ?
No movement No Draco. He was nowhere to be found, just disappeared, all there was on the stage was a heap of robes, and our hero under it.
The crowd was still cheering. None of them was a PhD in physics.
These jokers never realised how thick and heavy their robes really were.
The guards rushed to pull him out of the heap in a frantic search and rescue operation, found him suffocated and very very dead.

Did he wear a sequined glove like Micheal? That would have been cool.

I've never even heard of this chap before.

rauf said...

Ethel, Yea I have seen the goves he wears but I did not know that they are called sequined gloves.
Actually I don't know what sequined means my english knowledge being very poor. Thanks for telling me. Like this draconian law guy Draco other name that comes to my mind is Robert Openheimer. The creator of the first atomic bomb which was dropped on Hisroshima Nagasaki.
We think of him as a monster too.
Actually he too was a very sweet person, highly respected by his colleagues and students. Highly learned and an expert on eastern philorophy, and could read many languages. He warned his students not to pursue nuclear research and he was very much against dropping of bombs on Hisoshima Nagasaki, and picked up fight with President Truman. He met the President and said 'we have blood on our hands'
President Truman said 'I'll wash it' Later Openheimer was disgraced
for his stand and was stripped of his special priveleges and was accused of spying.

Rauf,
Are you sure all this is true?
If it is, I'd say these guys are all the same. First, they want to become famous by creating something monstrous like an A-bomb and then want to become more famous by opposing its use.
I wouldn't trust this kind of people; they are the worst people on planet earth. The same thing could be said of A. Einstein. They are are a bunch of hypocrites!

Moreover, I can smell from a mile how morbidly vain these intellectuals and scientist are. It's the stupid culture they were reared into!

Mr. German
I am not sure about Draco. It was 7th century BC I wrote from what I had gathered from libraries in my school days, I had a very good history and geography teacher. No internet then. I checked up now after I saw your comment. the date is 621BC and Draco did come under a pile of robes hurled at him on stage out of love and appreciation for what he did. He died of suffocation.

Robert Openheimer, yes it is true.
He was victimised for his stand and accused of spying for the soviets.

Any scientist at research table has only one goal. He does not think of the pros and cons of the
project until he succeeds, be it cloning or genetic engineering or finding a cure. Until then his conscience is locked up. Only after he comes out of the project he begins to see things with
clarity.

Its a murky field, Ask Isaac Newton about vanity. This chap was the most conceited of all the scientists I have read. He stifled
the efforts of other scientists of his time, not allowing their research papers to reach for consideration at the Royal academy of science. He had a considerable pull. This guy was plain dirty. You never know his laws of motion could be the efforts of some poor young scientist.

Same goes with Charles Darwin, Herbert Spencer had already come up with the theory of natural selection.
but he chose a wrong title, he called it ' survival of the fittest' All the efforts and research of Herbert spencer went down the drain, never got the credit for it. Darwin's papers were approved by the Royal academy of science.

Please correct me if any of the above is factually wrong, I am writing out of my fading vision and memory.

Hope these guys don't sue me.
They are dead alright, but you never know.

We should be concerned only with the positive outcome of any research work. How it comes is of little consequence.

Rauf,
Don't worry! They are as good as dead. I will kill them if they reincarnate.

rauf said...

oh boy !
Mr. Japp, I don't want this insignificant blog to trigger a war. The moment you type KILL they'll locate you and your phone would be tapped. What a world we live in !

An obscure art school teacher and and art critic triggered 2nd world war, He rejected Hitler's paintings as un imaginative, and told him that he can never be a good artist. Hitler was pissed, seeds of hatred were planted in him on that day which led to 2nd world war.
Blame the war on that art school teacher, poor guy he never knew what a havoc he'd create.

facts are my drawing board, perspective is my paint brush and light is my god but now i need a new tool ... to keep my mouth shut/fingers glued ... am rolling all over, fig fat meanie is no longer an inspiration.

rauf, your english knoledge is becoming quiet something ... god !still cant get over your facts.

wildpic said...

rauf, am amazed how and where u gather all these info, wish u could build it with more facts and dates and figures, so that it becomes a researched output than to seem a folk naration.

cheers !

Suresh I'll give you one more to roll on the floor
Francis Bacon, sir francis i think early 17th century, was a jack of all trades, writer philosopher, painter (I am not sure) poet lots of other things This was during queen Elizebeth 's period(the dead one) This guy was a genius, entered cambride university when he was just 12 or 13. He rose to some good position, became something like a supreme court judge too, Yea i forgot he was a politician as well. You gonna laugh your guts out, he was sacked for taking a bribe as a judge, Now you know where our curruption comes from. the British brought it in to our country, Curruption is imported Suresh not local, Every day this Bacon guy had bright ideas, He lost his reputation, and respect, poor chap. In high winter one night while traveling he thought of refrigeration. He had ideas to stop the decay of meat or preservation of it, Bought a chicken killed it Went out in the night in freezing cold and stuffed the chicken with snow to freeze it, he froze instead. Froze to death or died of pneumonia.

rauf said...

sorry Correction suresh
I cheked up, Queen Elizabeth died when Bacon was young, James 1 became the king, he is the one who scaked Bacon. Some one should tell our Lallu Prasad, He'll use this in his next election campaign.
Bacon was a scientist among other things

Suresh
Actually I have not updated my information from past 30 years.
Too lazy to collect information on the net, I enjoyed spending time in Connemara library, lovely atmosphere, I used to sit the whole day without eating. Still I've got the smell in my head. Its ages since I've been there. I'll take you one day.

My goodness Rauf! I haven't been so entertained by so many half truths and historical inaccuracies in a long time.

But on the other hand, it does seem that chaos theory can be applied to human history as well.
The guy who didn't like Hitler's architectural style...missed the bus that morning and Hitler never recreated himself or wrote Mein Kampf...and most of us living today would either never have been born or would be very diferent people, Oppie would not have needed to invent atomic bombs and Einstein's theories would have gotten us cheap power sources, we would be colonizing Mars, etc., etc., etc.
Funny world...

rauf said...

Oh yes Its a funny world.
So good to see you here Barbara!

I write based on my memory, Please correnct me when ever you find inaccurate information. It'll help me and others.Woke up early in the morning, and saw your comment, it was like receiving a present from you. Elvis and I have the same birthday. Stephen Hawkins, shirley Bassey and David Bowie too.
Thank you so much Barbara. My eyes are still fuzzy.

rauf said...

A request.

My memory has gone rusty, please correct me if you find any wrong information on my page.

wildpic said...

rauf this is a dangerous request, rather insert a disclaimer note, that way its more fun.

I wouldn't dream of attempting to correct your perceptions and interpretations of 'The Truth'. Truth is subjective. Yours is more entertaining than the 'official' version. Please don't take offence...it is your narration that I enjoy.

rauf said...

I refuse to follow and I refuse to lead, but I should never mislead. That is my worry.

What do you want: empirical, repeatable science or a theocracy? At one time the sun revolved around the earth, according to the Catholic church, and no one dared contradict that. Science goes where the facts take it; then the rest of us have to deal with those facts in the most moral & responsible way we can.

As for Draco, there seem to be a lot of people in the US who would like Draconian laws, figuring, I guess, that it will always be someone else on the losing side of them. But as Benjamin Franklin said, He who would give up freedom for security will have neither.

Unless you're willing to hand control of your life over to someone else, it will never be easy to sort through all the possibilities.

rauf said...

Mitey Mite, Some truths have a short shelf life, They come with an expiry date stamped on them. It was difficult to accept the Earth going around the sun. I cannot imagine my belief being shattered by new discoveries. Finally the Vatican cleared Galileo of the heresy charges in 1992. That means the Church finally accepted that the earth is round in 1992. It marked the beginning of a new truth.

We enforce laws to control the society. History has taught us the results of too stingent and too lenient laws or the absence of laws themselves.

rauf said...

'OH SHIT'!!! is my guess as usual putputas

rauf said...

And Puts please check and tell me how he would have said 'OH SHIT' in classical Greek.

rauf said...

And puts, here's one more for you
and this poor guy did not even have time to say "OH SHIT"

Aeschylus was the father of Greek tragedies. Perhaps he started the stage plays and introduced 'acting' as a career. Please correct me. This guy was a complete takla
I mean completely bald. One bright sunny day he was merrily walking thinking of a plot for his next stage play, an eagle dropped a tortoise on his head thinking it was a rock. He died before he could say 'OH SHIT' in classical Greek.

Suresh, please tell me more about this
Eagles find it hard to eat tortoise, they carry it to a great height and drop it on a rock to break its shell.
This was 500 BC or there about.

Anonymous said...

poms, you are right on the Eagle and tortoise bit, but then, when i typed in "oh shit" for translations, it said " sorry, no profanity allowed " , and i was so embarrassed, hehe

~A~

Anonymous said...

Rauf,
Did I hear "takla". In my mother tongue it means shit. Really.

rauf said...

Mr.Pampango
Takla in spoken hindi is bald. What is your mother tongue ?

Irrespective of the existence or meaning of god.
Rauf, your blog is becoming a chat room and a personal bullying site. want to move on ?

rauf said...

Say Hi to God
Tell him I am angry
HE FORGOT MY BIRTHDAY
I'll call him later

yea moving on to fresh bullying
God is bullying me and I have to find myself a punching bag.

Has God given you any name or a number atleast? like XE 32465 Mark2 Second edition or pocket edition ?

Anonymous said...

Am hit counter 002787 or 001125. god doesnt care about birthdays, he celebrates when you are happy.

You cant choose punching bags based on your sensitivity and knowledge and journey. Being a monkey everywhere does not work, bananas are not stocked everywhere.

rauf said...

Monkeys are not strictly vegetarians I can survive I don't need bananas always jumping from tree to tree is enough fun for me

please tell God that my phone number is changed.

rauf said...

now you'll tell me monkeys don't have phones.
I don't have a mobile. With out a mobile I am not considered a human

Anonymous said...

i think the unwritten laws in societies are the most draconian.

rauf said...

We never come to know of them chinna, I have seen them in my own family, mental torture is still worse.

Anonymous said...

You know we dont use phones either, but internet, intranet, xnet, ynet, spynet. We can tell all your humour and nick names though. Eat what you want but dont bite anyone for food.
