Simply merges with the rock, bigger birds like eagles falcons, raptors, can't loate it from a distance.

Asked the forest officer, He said Rockerfeller
What ?
Rocka Flower

I left with the idea that it is called Rock flower, Checked up found that it is Rock plover

Beautiful bird, and interesting about the camouflage.

OMG, the pics just kept getting better throughout your post. What a fantastic-looking bird. Those eyes! And your photos are superb. I wonder why they have evolved such large eyes? So glad you didn't leave any of the pics out. Happy and safe travels, and can't wait to see and feel your experiences through your words and photos when you return.

Rauf, lovely bird! You captured him very well! Were you in a boat or on land/rock. He sure blends into his surroundings. The last picture looks like he's trying to impress you. :)

Safe journey & return!

As always, Rauf, awesome pictures. I really like the way you "teach" about your subjects- beauty and information all at the same time, can't ask for more than that. Have a great trip.

Lovely bird! I remember seeing one such bird when I was a little boy. It was a rare bird so everyone of us tried to catch it as soon as we saw it. We finally caught it. But it refused to eat. So after a few days, it died. It was sad that not one of us thought of releasing it.

Hi Chriatina, Actually I could not spot the bird from a distance. There were three actually, I noticed them only when one of them flew off.

Patty, Came back this morning, had a wonderful time in Kerla, I think I had enough of rain and Kerala. good to be back home, lots of love & care waiting and I become lazy again.

Hope you find the subjects interesting Patty, When you make efforts to understand and remember, the windows of your mind keep opening one by one.

Thanks Ruth, I really don't know how they evolve with special adaptation, like little cormorants have large claws for their size. Forgot to post those pictures, many lying in cold storage. I am seeking help as I don't identify many of them.

Too many things happening in Kerala, Found lots of yellow flags everywhere reperesenting some cult,
every time I find something new. Perhaps this is an old one but I am never surprised to find new cults swamis gurus emerging. The yellow guru is dead for sure. Very close to where I live in chennai there is a red shirt cult, I find them very scary, I get away as fast as I can. The red shirt guru is still alive and he has his temples all around south India. India is a religious mess Ruth.

Thank you Gangadhar, I had enough of Kerala, I think I should go to Andhara next. I love vizag.

No Ufukhati, I am too lazy to get information, I normally ask my friends to do the search.

I got wet Aamir, hanging out of the train, I'll try to post pictures today.

I am learning too Cindy, so sad that I am too old to store all the information. I am forgetting the names of the singers, titles. but I don't forget the songs, pretty strange.

Parrots seem to be comfortable in a cage Imemine. If you let them free they come back. But I too don't like to see birds in a cage. Birds who have lived free since they are born don't accept life in a cage.

I have been traveling so much of late Caralyn that I could not visit my favourite blogs. Thank you so much for remembering me. Its really long time. Now I am not going anywhere for a month, have no money left.

I love the shape of his eye, it is expressive too. Sometimes he looks like she's in deep thought, the brow goes straight across the eye. Wonderful!

rauf said...

Good observation Candy, I missed it.

Sharing is a joy Serenity. Thank you so much.

the first word that came to my mind when i saw the pics of the bird was "simple" - i don't know why, but i thought the bird looked so simple, without a complex network of colours. A li'l dazed too, but adorable. Love the close-up shots, Poms. Fantastic pics again *hugs*

Yupsee ree boo, they are as simple as a rock
ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmas

raufy,
The closeup shot of the rock plover reminded me of the trip to kalrayan hills way back and the closeup of the flowers you took and how others commented upon that and you left their mouths open with your slide show afterwards. nostalgia .. mmm...........

Chubbannax sweetie, I wrote this post first as Rock flower, thats what the forest officer told me. Had to delete it, searched on the net and found that it is rock plover, perhaps this is what the forest officer told me, you know me the deaf man heard it as rock flaawar. hehehe
