Happy holiday to you, Rauf. You must be getting fat with all the food, eh?

That is a GORGEOUS e-card you made. Love it.

Aalapna, Hi,
Thank you so much for your greetings
Welcome to Daylight again,

5.30 in the morning, the assistant baawarchi has already arrived and started the masaala making work.
sister makes the most delicious biryani but she can't handle large scale cooking, since we have invited many friends and have to pack and send to many friends who cannot come. Sabzi biryani is made for our vegetarian friends. We end up eating it since not many vegetarian friends touch that. they all prefer the 'other' one. There's a lot of activity in the house. I am the only one doing nothing. I offered my help but was told that I would be doing a great favour by disappearing from the scene, that would be a great help. I am such a walking disaster. Sister has already started making sheerkhurma.
Now I am thinking of going back to sleep

Thank you Ruth for the greetings.

Yes I have been eating a lot of late(mostly sweets) but I have not put on weight. I want to get into my favourite jeans, So this is not a health issue for me Ruth. I have a couple of well fitting jeans. I get into them and say oh oh ! Then I stop eating. My nephew Moin bought me a new pair of jeans for today's Eid.
Last night I heard my sister say that there is no need to take my measurements any thing will fit him, I don't know if it was a compliment( I refuse to go shopping) Usually they buy dresses for me, but not shoes. I am very particular about shoes. So I don't let them buy for me. Actually I don't know how many dresses I have. Sweet Anu and idiot Lord Boo buy clothes for me always, now both of them are abroad. I miss them so much.

Thank you Gangadhar, Everything is ready here waiting for the guests. Baawarchi finished his job pretty fast as he has to make biryani at 6 other places. My sis makes it incredibly delicious but she can't handle big scale. I saw some romance going on between our servant maid and the baawarchi. It was like a movie but no songs dancing in the rain and changing costumes. Its raining here but all the romance happened indoors, End of story as the baawarchi left to make biryani elsewhere, hope he finds other servant maid there and continues his romance so that his mood is good and he makes very good biryani. If the servant maid gives him the boot it will affect the biryani. He'll pour one kilo more salt.

Enjoy yourself Gangadhar, convey my greetings to your friends over there.

From me as well!

I watch a US TV show "the Amazing Race", the last two episodes partly played out in Chennai, your City.
They referred to it as the gateway to Southern India. I enjoyed watching even more knowing it was where you live.
The driving exam was rather interesting... :)

Enjoyed your visits
Love and joy …

Thank you Angeldust.

Chennai, is known as cultural capital of India. Apart from that I have nothing to boast about. Recently I was told that the police is most efficient here which I doubt very much, perhaps due to the fact that people are mostly law abiding. Pretty safe city, a bit less chaotic than other cities of India.

rauf said...

Thanks Kathy. Not everything was fine as it was raining and some friends couldn't come. Rest of the things went well.
lots of love and hugs Kathy !

The language there is Urdu Lorraine and not Arabic. Urdu is hardly 400 years old. Best suited for poetry as it has the best of Arabic Persian and a bit of Sanskrit. It is wholly an Indian language, it originated and flourished here.

My father, a frugal, frugal man, always said not to scrimp on shoes and mattresses.

Maybe the word is "skimp" -- now I wonder . . .
